Beats sleeping on the ground - Napier Sportz Truck Tent

Some feedback after its' first outing: Instructions are pretty good and stitched into the carry bag for easy use. A gear loft and a ceiling mounted strap and clip for a lantern/light are nice touches. There is also a zippered screen pocket stitched at bed rail level towards the rear opening for small items like flashlight/headlamp, phone, wallet, etc. Initial build quality is good. Fit was fine for a 6'-7" F150 bed. Set-up is extremely difficult for one person. It will take practice and a system to make it any easier. Once up, it is pretty secure. Mine experienced a very violent squall on its' second day, and it stayed together perfectly. Ventilation is excellent. Head room is considerable. The awning is great. Really large. I use a twin-size memory foam mattress laid over a 4'X6' carpeted rubber mat laid directly on the tent floor. I added the mat to provide a better floor surface and to protect the floor of the tent from excess wear from rubbing. Set-up is not speedy, and that should be taken into consideration in bad weather or if you will be moving your vehicle frequently during use. The rain fly does mount/dismount fairly easily and quickly. I did experiment with partially breaking the tent down by disconnecting the poles from their anchor pockets and grommets, folding single sections of the ends of the poles so they would lay flat in the truck bed, disconnecting the straps, and folding the entire tent into the bed. I even left the mattress and mat inside the tent. My truck has a tonneau cover which allows me to cover it all up. Reset involves pulling it all back up by resetting the poles and then securing the straps. It's still a bit of a chore, but it does save some time. I anticipate using it quite a bit this summer touring around my home state, and into the Fall for hunting and trips to the eastern Utah desert.
