Cosmic Alchemest's Review of Obermeyer Devon Down Jacket - Women's
I recently bought this jacket and while it was very flattering and cute in style, and the color was very pretty, I returned it because being cute doesn’t cut it if it’s not comfortable or warm. I was excited to try this jacket because I’m only 5’4 and have a large chest and usually wear a small or medium in shirts or sweaters and a size 8 in jeans, so I look goofy in most large jackets, (intended for women that are 5’10 or something), but can’t zip mediums or smalls comfortably in the chest so I often end up in tent looking oversized large jackets for chest room, so I was happy to find these came in petite sizing. I bought a size 14 petite and it fit me well with room to layer but not look bulky. It was really nice to find a cute and flattering jacket that fits my body type. So the two stars are entirely for the fit, I debated on giving only 1 star. My issue was with the texture of the fabric, it ruins the entire jacket for me!!! It’s very plasticy and sticky like a cheap low end rain jacket from zero exposure or columbia made from the type of nylon that makes you colder for wearing it because it’s cold to the touch on the inside and outside and it’s very clammy, I know I’d be really uncomfortable if I wore it somewhere like the grocery store because within about 2 minutes of putting it on in the house it made me feel like I was wearing a plastic bag with no ventilation, it’s not breathable fabric at all, then I tried going outside in the cold in the back yard to test it in the cold and it made me feel cold from the sweatiness and just the overall cool feel of the nylon itself. It also makes a lot of noise when I moved my arms. So for all those reasons, the flattering fit was not worth it. I ordered a marmot jacket instead, hopefully it’s better quality fabric, I know the fit won’t be as cute.
Pros:
Cute fit, comes in petite sizing
Cons:
Plasticy fabric, not warm, not breathable, loud when arms move
Best Used for:
Going out at night in the winter and wanting to look cute and not care if you are warm.
Would Recommend:
No
