Svea 123 r - Optimus Svea

This is small stove but not the lightest one can carry. I want a stove that burns white gas so I got this one. The Svea 123 R has no pump to fail. It has a wick in the fuel tank which draws fuel up the riser to the the burner. Heat from the burner causes fuel to vaporize and causes more fuel to be drawn up from the fuel tank. To start the stove you must transfer some fuel from the tank to the dimple on top of the stove. Seal up the stove, close the valve, and then light the fuel puddle on fire. This fire heats the riser and pressurizes the stove. When the flame dies out you can open the valve and light the burner. As it burns this chain reaction continues and the stove burns with out any pumping. The burner only puts out 4800 BTU's. That's less than my Jetboil Mini Mo but more power than my White Box alcohol stove. I've only used it twice. I have found that placing it on a piece of cardboard will prevent heat from being lost from the fuel tank to the ground. This increases it's output. I'm still learning how to use this stove but so far I like it.
