Great cooler but a bad latch - Otterbox Trooper Cooler 20 Quart

bigaude's Review of Otterbox Trooper Cooler 20 Quart
I love the cooler but the latch is designed very poorly. Everything else seems to be top notch. This is actually my second one of these. I already had the first one replaced for a bad latch under warranty. The latch recently broke on the 2nd cooler they sent me. I didn't want to keep doing this dance of having to warranty this thing every few months. The issue is the plastic used for the latch is very prone to flexing when heated like from direct sunlight, and the constant cooling and heating, bending, expanding and contracting in conditions will cause the part to fail. It's the same failure I'm sure everyone is having, the arms that hold the latch to the cooler and holds all the tension. I designed and 3D printed replacement that is a solid part and used a plastic that is less prone to stresses under heat. Works like a charm so far. I even added a little personalized touch. A quick Etsy search should help anyone who needs a replacement.
