Skilass's Review of Outdoor Research Enigma Crew - Men's
This review is only based on a single use and I will update in a few months, but I think I can help with your purchase decision. I was looking for a merino wool base layer to use for warmth when skiing. This shirt came up in my search of merino wool base layers. I am 5’9”” and 180, barrel chested. I usually wear a large, but based on their size chart and fit description I chose an XL. What I got is NOT what I was hoping for. This shirt is VERY thin and is only 12% wool. It is also true to size XL. The sleeves are very long, but have thumb holes so long is not bad if you like to use thumb holes. This shirt would be good for very active hiking and I used it on a cold weather hike and it is soft and odor free. Even though it is not what I wanted, I’m going to keep it as a light weight sweat shirt for cool weather runs or difficult hikes. Probably buy a smart wool 250 base layer for skiing. Hope this helps.
Pros:
soft
Very lightweight
Thumb holes
Cons:
Not much wool content
larger fit than expected
Almost see though thin
Best Used for:
Strenuous activities in cool weather
Would Recommend:
Yes
