Sheila's Review of Outdoor Research Igneo Jacket - Women's

I've been on a quest to replace my 12-year olds ski jacket. I wanted something warm, fashionable on the slopes, good fit, room to layer underneath, that didn't hit too low on the thigh in a ski crouch. And I wanted to pay less than $200. I have tried on about 30 jackets from all the major ski brands. Each one had something wrong with it: didn't accommodate my hips, or too big under my arms, too much insulation for warmer days, not waterproof enough for wet days, fashionable slim-fitting shells without space to layer, technically perfect but just too "mom-looking..." Or too expensive. This jacket finally met my high expectations. I haven't skied in it yet, but I've tried it on with all my gear and I can crouch in it comfortably and I can move naturally underneath it. On its own, it's warm in 40 degrees, with room to layer a base and two fleece or down micropuffs underneath when it's colder. I don't understand the reviews about long arms, mine are normal and this fits fine. The Velcro thing at the wrist and thumb is useless, but easy to ignore. I wish it had an inner sleeve to keep the cold out. I really like the red print - my family and friends will find me easily on the slopes.
