Ryan Dormond's Review of Peregrine Altai 0 Primaloft Down Blend Sleeping Bag

I used this sleeping bag on Mt. Rainier in late June 2019. Temperatures (in F) dipped into the low teens at Ingraham Flats. I used a thin flat foam pad and a REI flash pad for my insulation, and wore light/mid legging, wool socks, and a t-shirt...

I ended up sweating a little on my chest and opened up the zippers a bit, but I was definitely WARM and COMFORTABLE. I woke up rested for summit day, whereas my tent mate ended up having terrible sleep because he was cold.

I'm confident this will hold up well in colder conditions (0 to 10F).

For less than half the price of a "Big Agnes Orno 0" bag, and just a few ounces heavier, this bag is definitely worth it.

PRO: Warm. Light. Compressible.
CON: Internal pocket snags easily (totally worth dealing with for the value and performance)
Pros:
  • Light
  • compressability
  • Warm and comfortable
Cons:
  • internal pocket zipper snag
Best Used for:
  • alpine mountaineering
