Grand Slammer's Review of Petzl Astro Bod Fast International Harness

I purchased this harness to use in high angle rescue training classes I am taking. I purchased this harness becuase it is the harness that I wear as a volunteer on a Technical Rescue Team at my place of employment. I want to train in the equipment I use as a volunteer technical rescue technician. The harness is very well made, and very comfortable. I like the fact that the leg loops and the left side should strap have quick release buckles. The quick release buttons are a bit difficult to manipulate, but I suppose that is a good thing, meaning they will not easily become undone while wearing it in rescue work. The harness is easy to don, an actually much easier to don than some other harnesses I have worn. However it is not quite as easy as the Petzl AVAO Bod, which has bot of the chest straps come over the head and then is connected by carabiner to the seat portion of the harness. The Atro Bod harness comes with the Croll pre-rigged to the harness, which is an upgrade over the Petzl AVAO Bod, which can accomodate a croll, but has to have a piece of webbing hold the upper part of the Croll in place and keep it from flopping over.
All in all I am very please with the Petzl Astro Bod Fast harness and would recommend it to any one looking at a full body harness for technical rescue work.
Pros:
  • Very well made, comfortable, well thought out.
Cons:
  • NONE
Best Used for:
  • Technical rescue
Would Recommend: Yes
