jeff j.'s Review of Pieps DSP Sport Beacon

So far I have used it off and on for a couple of weeks during avy classes and mock searches . The ease of use is nice. It is glove friendly. For the classes and mock searching, I have been able to hit the buried pack that I was probing for every time on the first try. Its fast, I can not out ski its ability to track another beacon. distance and feature wise it is right on par with my Barryvox Mammut Element. My only minor issue is that you have to be sub 2-3 meters of the beacon you are tracking to be able suppress that signal. So for a multiparty burial if the beacon you are tracking is found by another searcher, you have to run over there to silence the signal to move to the next. With more expensive model you can toggle between signals, something to be aware of. For the back country hobbyist it a great tool to have and one of the more reasonable priced transceivers as well
