Jerry Mitchell's Review of Prana Stretch Zion Pants Short Inseam - Men's
These pants are the best hiking pants I have ever owned. They are light, packable, breathable and still relatively water repellent. More importantly, they dry quickly. The roll up feature is a good solution to the problem with convertible pants. They seem like a good idea when you buy them. But, zipping the legs on and off tends not to happen. I use actually use the roll up feature on these pants. I bought the blue ones because they were cheap. They aren't my favorite color, but they are my second pair (I also have two pairs of the shorts) and I intend to buy another pair of the pants in the mud color with my 20% discount. The desirable colors aren't discounted very often. Unlike many other brands I have tried, however, they are worth paying full price for. The only down side is that they are a bit scratch on the first couple of wears. That subsides after a couple of washes though. Probably, the DWR is being washed out. I don't care about that much though. I am more concerned with the dry time as previously stated. I was trying to keep them in new condition for hiking at first, but I keep finding myself putting them on for day to day wear. I even wear them to work sometimes. Also, I was recently in the hospital with my wife for the birth of our daughter and I slept in them a couple of times. I was a comfortable as I would have been in pajamas and I was wearing a Patagonia Tech-weave belt. So, now I am just buying as many pairs as I can afford.
