Kevin's Review of Rab Ascent 500 Sleeping Bag

This is my first bag purchase in decades so I don't have much experience. I'm gernerally warmer than the average person when I sleep.

I do recognize good quality work an I see no problems. The baffles all seem equally filled. The seams and zippers look fine. Only a couple of feathers came out on this trip. My scale shows the bag alone weighs 2.57lbs.

I took a late May three night trip in the northern Montana Rockies. The coldest night was 34F. Without a hat or thermals it was about my limit. I wasn't warm or cold. I'm sure with a hat and proper cloths, it would meet the 24F rating. The warmest start to a night was 55F. The bag was warmer than I prefer but I didn't sweat and slept wonderfully.

I purchased the long version. I'm 6' and it's too long by 3-4" but I wanted more shoulder width and it's perfect. I'm an active sleeper and uncomfortable in a snug fitting bag. I just pull the bag up and incorporate the extra into my pillow.

After three nights I'm a satisfied customer. It's a quality three-season bag and a good value.
