Jaredd's Review of Rab Continuum Jacket - Men's

I am currently training to summit Mt. Rainer in Washington State, and after summiting Mt. Baker last year I felt like I needed to update my mid layer. I did a lot of research on the different RAB products and decided that this was the jacket for me. The sizing guide on the RAB website is a little bit funky and I wasn't sure what size jacket would fit me best. I ended up going with a size large and I am glad I did. I am 6 feet tall, weigh 210 lbs and the jacket fits fantastically. If I wanted to be nit picky, maybe I could argue that the sleeves were a little long, however, they don't hang past my wrists, and I think they are purposely made a little longer to ensure they don't slide up your wrists when you lift your arms over your head.

The jacket comes equipped with elastic cuffs and a drawstring waist to keep out drafts, and the wire brimmed hood is amazing at holding your desired shape (I wish this feature was a standard in my Gore-Tex rain jackets). The hood is helmet compatible, and I am pleased with the draw cords provided that give a snug fit when you aren't wearing one. The jacket is incredibly light and packable for the warmth it provides, making it ideal for ascents and backpacking. Lately, it has been cold windy weather at home with temperatures down to 20 degrees fahrenheit and I haven't been cold once. I am especially impressed with how wind proof the material is and I was pleased to feel no cold spots in 30 degree weather with 20 mph winds. That being said, if I were sitting in a camp chair reading a book in such weather, with only the Continuum to keep me warm, I think I would be wishing for something more along the lines of a RAB Axion, Neutrino, or Positron Pro (all of which are slightly heavier jackets meant to provide that warmth when you aren't moving as much) (the Neutrino is the lightest of the three, weighing half a pound more than the continuum).

Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase and I find that the level of quality matches the price tag. If you are looking for a very light jacket that will keep you especially warm while on the move, this is the jacket for you.
