Lightweight protection for shorter folks - Rab Element Solo Shelter

I'm 6' 1" and this borders on being too short, especially when rain comes down at an angle, as it frequently does. The whole set-up weighs just 292 grams (10.3 ounces) packed as it is from the retailer, which is lighter than advertised, and that weight includes six v-stakes and small stuff sacks that come with it. The weight does not include any paracord or rope weight, because the Rab Element Solo does not come with any cord or rope! You'll have to attach your own (I use a 3mm refelective TripTease type of cord). Set up is slightly difficult and takes some practice, but all tarps of this nature do.

I purchased it for $68, what with a 20-25% discount code and will be using it for various long-distance thru hikes, where bugs (hopefully) aren't an issue. Where they are I will (hopefully be able to) switch back to a fully-enclosed shelter.

All told, I am happy with this tarp and am giving a 4-star rating for quality of workmanship and low weight, if only its length were a foot or so longer. I would advise not using it in rainy climates at its current dimensions, unless you're 5'8" or under. I live in the desert where rain and bugs aren't typically a concern. If you live somewhere where they are, you might want to use something fully enclosed or at least a little more protective. (I plan to sleep in the fetal position when rain comes!)

Lastly, the colors on this or any other sil-nylon tarp fade in fairly short order, and the material gets thinner with use (even more than its already-thin stature), and so great care needs to be used in setting it up and taking it down, before the sun beats down on it.
