Not a vapor barrier - Rab Vapour Barrier Socks
by

I started using vapor barrier socks last winter to keep my socks and boot insulation dry from perspiration. I normally used bread bags between a thin liner sock and my insulated sock which worked as vapor barriers but they did not conform to my foot so I thought this would be a good purchase. I tested the Rab socks on a full day of ice climbing and they were comfortable but my socks and boot insulation were damp at the end of the day. It was better than if I wasn’t wearing the Rab socks but they still let perspiration through unlike the bread bags which defeats the whole purpose of wearing vapor barrier socks. I’m very disappointed in this purchase and I hope I can get a refund. I recommend you just make a sock with something like a bread bag that will actually stop the transfer of water vapor into your insulation.
Pros:
comforable
Cons:
not effective
Would Recommend:
No
