Firetail evo gtx's are fantastic, these should be on par! - Salewa Firetail 3 GTX Approach Shoe - Mens

I don't own the Firetail 3's, but the Firetail EVO GTX's are some of the best shoes I've ever owned, they are fantastic. Unbelievably light, yet waterproof, stiff without interfering with normal gait or more technical stuff. I have a low-volume foot and the Firetail EVO GTX's best fit a higher volume foot. That said, I experimented and found that a Superfeet insert solved that problem. The Goretex breathes much better in these than anything else I've tried -- my feet tend to easily get hot -- and are comfy up to about the low '70's. The Vibram approach sole grips extremely well in typical mixed approach conditions. I'm in the SF Bay Area and these work really well here, my play zone is the Sierras.
