Go and order a size up. I would normally take a 8 women's and this fit perfect the size 9. If they are made in Canada maybe they run small? The Vibrum soul will be great for the ice and snow here. They are light and bend so easy to walk or run in.. I am excited to wear these and believe they will warm enough with medium socks.
