Valerie B.'s Review of Sea to Summit Comfort Plus Insulated Mat - Rectangular

After reviewing several other mattresses, I decided to try this one out. Since every person's needs are different when it comes to mattresses, here is a little about me. I am a female, 5'4, and unfortunately approximately 250 pounds, but I love hiking, backpacking, and camping. Unfortunately, most outdoor gear is not meant for someone my size. other reviews said that this air mattress lost air overnight, I did NOT find that to be the case, and I am not light. Just make sure you close the valve fully. I have used this several times since I bought it. I had attempted to make the wide version of the Big Agnes insulated Q-Core work, but my shoulders were too wide, and the design did nothing for my back as I always woke up sore and needed to take motrin to get through the second day of backpacking. The dual layer of my comfort plus really helps because the fully inflated bottom gives me the support I need, and the adjustable upper side allows me to adjust for comfort making this way more comfortable for curvy people. I thought that the big agnes would be better since it is 4 inches off the ground, but it wasn't, even though I am closer to the ground on this, the comfort plus is definitely the better choice for my body shape. I just wish that Sea to Summit offered a short and wide version to save a little weight and space as I need the wide version, but at 5'4, I don't need long, and the long barely fits in my backpacking tent. I am still waiting for the day that outdoor companies realize that short, overweight women actually do want quality gear as well!
