Frankster's Review of Sherpa Khumbu Pant - Mens

These pants are expertly designed with the perfect technical fit, that provides ample freedom for every anatomically movement your body could possible make. Paradoxically, it maintains a trim appearance, clean lines, and absolutely no bagginess or excess material. The fabric is soft and forgiving, has a generous degree of stretch, and is rugged as hell. Superior abrasion resistance and long-term durability. Great properties for rock climbing, etc. They are quite water resistant thanks to a dwr finish; water just rolls off them, especially in light rain. If they do wet out, no worries, because they do not absorb a lot of water, and they dry amazingly fast. This makes them great for hiking or camping, and they are surprisingly comfortable to wear for cycling. Granted, they do not have any padding, and you're not going to be doing a century ride in these, but they'd be great for your 7 mile bike-commute to work, or riding on the local bike path with your family. They are exceptionally breathable, and keep you dry and comfortable. This article is light in weight, folds/packs up with no bulk, and emerges from your bag with zero wrinkles. A versatile piece of clothing I have the black ones, and in this conservative basic color they can absolutely pass for occasions where you want to look sharp. You're not going to be able to wear them to a formal event, but you could definitely wear them with a crisp dress shirt and go out to dinner with your best girl at a fine restaurant. Think of how practical that is for travel. You can work all day friday, fly to Hawaii, climb the volcano, and then go out for dinner and drinks all in the same pair of pants. Seriously! What I do not recommend them for is cold windy days. The tradeoff of their great breathability is that they do not block the wind very well. Now on a warm day, you'll appreciate this, but when it's colder that about 50 degrees F, I find that the wind blowing through them makes me get cold. If the air is calm, then they'll keep me warm down to about 40-45, unless I'm doing something highly aerobic. Having said that, I have been quite pleased to wear them for XC skiing in temps down to about 10F, with just a light merino base-layer underneath, and found that to be a sufficiently warm, and highly breathable combo. My overall point here is that this pant is extremely versatile, and I highly recommend that you buy it. It will become the one article of clothing you reach for first at least 75% of the time.
