Adriana's Review of Suunto Ambit3 Vertical GPS Watch with Heart Rate Monitor
My husband and I have two of these watches, one in blue and one in black that we got in February of 2018. They worked great for the first couple of months but then things started going downhill.
First we noticed the altimeters were waaaaay off sync from each other. If they were just a couple hundred feet off then I wouldn't think too much of it, but it was by thousands of feet. Once my watch said I was at 25,000ft! We'd have to manually enter the correct altitude and it would be ok for a while then it would be off again.
My watch went through a real crazy ordeal when I was hiking the Colorado Trail this summer. I had decided to buy an ultralight solar panel just because I wanted to use this watch. But after a week on the trail my watch started going crazy. It would think I was moving when I was actually sitting still, or say I was moving at 10 mph. After hiking maybe three miles, it said I had gone 18. And my altitude was all wrong. I couldn't reset it and ended up calling customer service when I finished the trail. I did not appreciate the dead weight. They had me do a factory reset which fixed the problem for a little while, but it happened again. I started thinking mine was defective until the same thing started happening with my husbands watch!
And just recently I was biking when my watch literally fell off my wrist. I didn't fall on it or anything and the little latch just broke. I'm not sure it's worth fixing, it's such a piece of junk.
We had been so excited about these watches but it hasn't even been a year and neither of our watches are anywhere near reliable. I would expect much more from such a high priced product. This feels like a junk watch from Walmart or something. We are both very into outdoor sports and seeing some of the watches our friends have, I have to say there are better ones out there. I do not recommend this product.
Pros:
Looks nice
Cons:
everything else
Best Used for:
taking up space in your junk drawer
Would Recommend:
No
