Tlyn's Review of Therm-a-Rest MondoKing 3D Self Inflating Mattress
I had done lots of research on this MondoKing mainly because of the price involved with this mat compared to others. My husband and I plan on riding to SD on his Honda VTX and we couldn't find a way to lug an air mattress and pump. So, I began the search for something with plenty of give off the ground for my low back. I never thought I'd drop this money on a mat but so far 2 nights in a row in southern Colorado has been a success. I do toss some but not nearly like I thought I would. The mat does keep you warm. The cold Colorado ground was no match. The mat is tricky at first to roll back up big once you get the hang of it it's not difficult at all. And the next part it's bulky yes, but very very light. My Mondo doesn't weight anymore than my thin 1" browning mat. I gave it 4 stars as I do wish it was a touch more like the feel of an air mattress versus the actual foam feel. But that's not the mattresses fault that's just the feel that I prefer. For most folks this is gonna get the job done. I did great sleep both nights and plan to continue to use it! It's made very well and I see this lasting for years. It'll be worth the investment especially when it helps with heat retention.
Pros:
Very comfy and easy to use very warm
Cons:
Wish it was les firm and more air or plush like in feel
Best Used for:
Long nights and long getaways should be motorcycle friendly
Would Recommend:
Yes
