I have hiked in every kind of shoe there is and these are the best I have found. I have hiked the AT, AZT and about 3000 more miles in these shoes. They are light (about 3 oz heavier than the top of the line trail runners), they are rugged and protect your feet from bruising far better than the soft shoes, they don't need special shoe inserts and they last about 5 times as long as trail runners.
