Versatile and useful for the backcountry - Voormi Eleven .9 Hoodie - Mens

I live and hike in the remote mountain country of far NE California. Wide temperature swings are common and storms can blow in quickly and unpredictably. Layering is essential and this Voormi hoodie can be a useful layer. My personal rule is to carry one more layer in my pack than I think I will need, and fairly often I have had to use that extra layer. I violated my extra layer rule on a Fall hike where I had only this hoodie over a base layer. Well into the hike a snowstorm blew in with high winds and soon I was covered with wet snow. I was surprised and impressed that I stayed comfortable in the hoodie as I hiked back to the trailhead. I passed a couple of other hikers who had been caught out in regular sweatshirt hoodies and they were cold, wet, and miserable. I'd likely have chilled at a prolonged stop, but I stayed warm and dry enough as I kept moving.

Another reviewer aptly noted that this hoodie runs small. I am 6'2" tall, broad shouldered, 30" waist, 175 lbs. I ordered my hoodie in XL as I do with most outerwear tops because I like room to layer and prefer a fit that is not too tight in the shoulders. XL sizes tend also to have longer sleeves, which I need. The XL hoodie was none too large and fit closer than most, sleeves barely long enough. The only reason that I haven't used my hoodie more than I do is that I was impressed enough with it to order a Voormi jacket with similar construction and even more water resistant "Core" technology. Both garments have a wide temperature range in addition to water resistance. The garments are understandably expensive, when you consider the material, technology and construction.
