Good value for 2-bike hitch rack - Yakima Ridgeback 2 Bike Rack

John Reynolds's Review of Yakima Ridgeback 2 Bike Rack
I replaced an older Thule rack with this Yakima Ridgeback 2. The Ridgeback is a little heavier but also seems sturdier. The mechanism to secure it in the hitch mount is solid, and the whole unit sits closer to the back of our SUV which is what I wanted. Putting bikes on & off is easy enough, as is folding down the rack for access to the rear of the car. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 due to the detachable plastic ZipStrips that secure the bike frames to the rack and the plastic lever handle used to unlock the arm for lowering—I am unsure how long these will endure outside since we don’t park the car in the garage, and you don’t get any spare ZipStrips. Still, the Ridgeback was around $100 cheaper than the comparable Thule, and I am pleased with the functionality, appearance, and value.
Pros:
Sturdy
Value
Ease of use
Cons:
Plastic part durability?
Best Used for:
Recreational biking
