I live in Texas but was going skiing and going to be outdoors in Wisconsin. These were plenty warm underneath my insulated ski pants for a cold Wisconsin day. They are also perfect in Texas when it's chilly to wear underneath jeans or other shell clothing as you won't get too hot inside. Wore these on a few cold days up to the White Mountains and they worked great. Super light, super comfortable. Fit snuggly but not uncomfortably.
