Product Info for Sunflair WAPI Water Pasteurization Indicator
Sunflair's water pasteurization indicator, or WAPI, alerts you when your water has reached a safe pasteurization temperature. The green wax is designed to melt at 150 degrees. The purpose of this travel sized device is to alert you when your drinking water has been pasteurized. Pasteurization is not the same as sterilization which requires much higher temperatures, but pasteurization still kills all common dangerous pathogens like Salmonella, E Coli, and Listeria. By not having to heat water beyond 150 degrees, you can use up to 50% less energy. When traveling, or hiking, in areas where fuel supplies are scarce or costly, pasteurization is an especially attractive option.
