Opens up, snaps together around base, hinged opening to start and feed fuel(small pieces of wood),pot sits on top and boils water or heats food ( and cools down )as fast as any lightweight burner I've used.

I bought this stove to use as a windscreen and a backup wood stove for backpacking. My evernew stove fits well when using as a windscreen. The extra weight is ok since it has two purposes, especially if the alcohol bottle leaks.

Being a bit of a gear-collecting nut, I've got six different water-boilers and backpacking/camp stoves. Vargo's design of this little nature-powered stove is innovative and practical, and lighter than any of my previous stoves. I love found-wood-powered devices: no need to pack in man-made fuel, fiddle with priming and messy liquids, no danger of canisters overheating and exploding, etc.

I like the little raise bottom shelf that allows me to light the tinder from underneath. I like the cutouts in the top supports and the little door that allow me to blow on it to get the flames roaring. I love the weight (4.4 oz vs 1 - 2 lbs for my other stoves + fuel). Love the titanium coolness factor.

But the airflow is a bit of a problem. If it had a little port for an optional battery powered fan or blow-tube, that might solve the issue. Also the little door can be a problem. It needs to be open to get air and prevent the fire from dying. But with it open, and the pot on top, all you can do is chuck little twigs in and hope they, or prior coals, don't come rolling out. It would be better if the little door had two halves, where you close the lower half after the fire is going, holding in the majority of the fuel and coals.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
