Comments about Twilight 2 Tent - 2 Person, 3 Season:

I bought this tent as on sale (at half the cost anywhere in Australia was offering it for - thanks Campsaver!) as a cheap and temporary replacement for my MSR Hubba Hubba, ruined by a careless friend. However after several uses I can see no need to go back to the MSR.

The weight and packed size of the tent are completely acceptable to hike the several kilometres to reach my favourite climbing walls. The dark green colour is great for stealth camping, set up is quick and easy, the poles are colour coded and all one piece. The fly is simple to orientate and stakes out with ease. When set up it handles rain without problems. Good vents and loads of mesh mean condensation hasn't been a problem, although my part of the country doesn't get particularly cold - lows about 8C (45F).

In strong winds it feel sturdier than my old Hubba Hubba, mainly because the mid section of the pole system actually bends to the ground increasing stability instead of just holding out the edges of the fly and inner, as with the Hubba Hubba. The vestibules are also much longer creating a better aerodynamic form.

Unfortunately the vestibules are also my only real issue with the tent. They extend so far from the sides of the inner, that it is impossible to open or close them while still remaining inside the tent inner (and I'm 6'4" with long lanky arms). This is far more annoying when it's wet and raining but not a huge problem overall.

Comments about Marmot Twilight 2 Tent - 2 Person, 3 Season:

I have been looking for a tent for the last couple of years and read reviews avidly, I finally decided on this tent. My first experience with it was at Burning man. The conditions there are less than desirable, with the playa dust storms and heat. The ventilation in this tent was great, however, it was Burningman and consequently, the playa dust got in thru the rainfly and the mesh, but, I'll probably never encounter these type of conditions again, so that is not a real issue. This is a great festival tent. I can for see these at the festivals I plan on going to with camping on site. However, for the backcountry backpacker, the Twilight might be a bit big. I can't really think of anything negative about this tent, I love it with the dual vestibules and the right amount of ventilation with solid fabric.

Comments about Marmot Twilight 2 Tent - 2 Person, 3 Season:

I'm generally a car camper or will walk into a site that's not too far from the lot. I also camp solo, so I'm responsible for carting everything. That means while I look for comfort, I try to keep it a bit minimal (I'm lazy and don't want to have to carry too much).

This tent fits the bill. It is plenty big for one person giving me room for gear inside the tent and the fly gives easy storage for almost everything else. However, I think that the size of the tent and fly would be completely inadequate for 2 people. It's just the way it's designed.

The tent sets up like a breeze, is well ventilated, and is a pleasure to use. My only complaint is that the design of the fly makes it a little difficult to tie up the front portion out of the way if you choose to open it up and allow for maximum ventilation while still having the fly ready to lock down in case of bad weather later.

I recommend this product, and would have no problem buying another if the occasion warrented it.

        About Marmot

        Marmot
In April 1971, Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley were in Alaska's Juneau Icefield where the idea of a Marmot Club began. The name 'Marmot' refers to a group of highly social, large ground squirrels that live in mountainous areas. To become a Marmot, you had to climb a glaciated peak with another Marmot. That summer and over the next two years, Eric and Dave began making prototypes of down products in their dorm room in addition to establishing the Marmot Club. Marmot has grown quite a bit, but one thing has never changed: the commitment to designing the highest quality performance product. Marmot has become widely recognized as one of the premier outdoor gear and clothing brands in the world today.
