I'm 5'10" and 165 lbs and had to send the medium back for a small. The sleeves ran an inch too long and bunched up on the medium. The torso was too boxy as well on the medium. However, if you plan to use it as more of a jacket, then medium would work. I wanted a more trim fit and to use as more of an outer layer sweater so I went with a small. Love the fit on the Arcteryx Covert Hoody. I'm 6' and 180 pounds. The jacket isn't boxy but contours nicely. It's very stylish looking. It's also very warm. Would highly recommend.
