We have a number of these - one for every kayak.
Great deck mounted compass - very rugged and fits perfectly into the factory recess found on most higher end kayaks.
Recommend purchasing stainless steel hardware to mount though.
There are kayak mounting instructions on-line if you check around.

I had one of these on another sailboat and it worked great. It's a good size, good price, and it doesn't stick out much, so it stays out of the way. I hear it's also great for kayaks. This one (my second) is for my new small sailboat.The Swedes know how to build 'em!

The Brunton Dash Compass is designed to be put on kayaks and other water sport crafts. It is not designed to be completely submerged under water for long periods of time.

You should be fine with a horizontal mount being heeled over, however vertical mount probably will not work the best. Let us know if you have any additional questions.
