Product Info for C.A.M.P. Neve Mountaineering Axe

The Neve is a classic, reliable ice axe for mountaineering and glacier travel. The forged chromoly steel head has an ergonomic design for a secure grip and good comfort. The pick is engineered for solid anchoring in hard snow and a high level of control during self-arrest. The adze has an ergonomic profile and is engineered for chopping snow and ice. The steel spike plunges cleanly and the holes in the spike and head can be used with carabiners for leashes and tethers. Comes equipped with the Touring Leash (1305).image

IS WHAT IT IS

lightweight, sturdy, easy to use, at least for me as I use it for hiking general purposes and scrambling around rock faces. i have not used it for mountaineering purposes. 1st season of use, but seems built like it will last many seasons.

When it comes to the C.A.M.P. Neve Mountaineering Axe, you will want to size your ice axe a little longer than you might otherwise. While grasping the head of the axe (between the pick and adze), the spike should come about to your ankle bone. This allows the spike to contact the snow while walking without having to uncomfortably bend over.
