I needed to extend the room in my pack for a recent hike through the Grand Canyon. These pockets did the job. They are easy to get on an off the pack so I packed food in them that I could later store away from critters at camp. They are well made and will have many used in the future.

Only used these once so far, but they're excellent for the money. Fill with your basecamp items and add to your pack, them completely remove them in preparation of a lighter summit run the next day. Allows you to use a smaller pack for ski touring, etc. Only suggestion would be to offer in Silnylon with smaller zipper pulls to reduce weight, even if less durable. I'll be r... Read more

Yes, you would run the compression straps of your pack through the loops on the External Pocket. There are plenty of them so you can get it right where you want it, or for varying models of packs with straps in different spots. Hope that helps.
