When Dave Waggoner introduced his Alien cams to climbing, the art of technical placements changed. Alien cams are the best thin crack protection. The Alien hybrid units excel in pin scars and technical placements. Dave's design has been and will be copied in the future but so far this original concept stands alone.
Features of Fixe Alien Lite Single Sling Cam:
Aliens are ideal for parallel sides cracks and should always be placed at 50%-90% closure
The stem of an Alien should always be oriented in the direction of anticipated force
The very flexible stem of Aliens makes them well suited to placement in horizontal cracks
Loading an Alien over a sharp edge can reduce the strength of the unit, and it will likely permanently damage the cable and/or the handle sheath
Never place an Alien in such a way that the cams are unevenly expanded
Use hybrid aliens to protect flared cracks such as pin scars
