If you are prone to biting insects but don't want the harmful effects of covering your body with deet then this is your product. I truthfully think this works better than any other product that contains deet. Bugs can't stand it and the sent is actually pleasant. Active Ingredient is Picaridin. No insect repellent should be used on infants younger than 2 months. I can't give you an exact yes or no answer as far as if it's safe for children but I can point you in the right direction, I would either ask your child's physician or look for further information at www.cdc.gov
