I'm a Professional Maine Guide and have been using the same First Need for over 20 years on camping and canoe trips. I have not had any real problems with it that a quick back flush in camp didn't fix. A pre filter and/or pumping from a bucket to let sediment settle will extend filter life. It can be a puzzle to reassemble the first time you back flush but it's not hard to figu...

Easy to use, fast, and simple. A little bulky, but totally worth it. Wouldn't trade it for any other filter.

The only problem I had was it was a little tricky with the lids on my nalgene bottles always clunking up against the filter as I ...

It is comforting to know I will not have to worry about unsafe water. Purchased this for an Appalacian Trail hike I am planning. Water comes out crystal clear. Not as small as a Steri-Pen but it filters out everything you don't want. Comes with Gravity/Storage bag.
