I used this cast iron grate for the first time yesterday. It is pre seasoned so I just oiled it and heated it in the grill for a while until it was up to 600 Degrees. I grilled a couple o porterhouse steaks to perfection, then about a pound and a half of shrimp. They came out great and nothing stuck to the grate at all.
