This is a nice baselayer but it depends on how much breathability you want and how hot or cold you run. It's a mid level baselayer. Not super thin but not as thick as their Aconcagua fleece jackets, which I use as a thick baselayer. It has grid fleece on the inside which is warm, but there is a lot of spacing between the grids. It is light (almost don't feel it over your skin), breathes well allowing moisture vapor to escape and helps regulate your body temperature during the effort.
Used it every day for commuting to work (8 miles) and during outdoor activities.
