I'm a fan of any midlayer with thumb loops. But I found a tons more to like about the Eclipse Hooded Zip. The athletic fit makes it a great layering piece in the cooler weather. I received the Eclipse beginning of December in Dominican Republic, for a use in the alps in 2018 and wore it so far three times mostly at night, despite the higher temperature here (we have even at night over 20 degree Celsius) and the eclipse has been very nice to wear and looks good. I tested it out skinning up this May as a second layer over a silk first layer. Great comfort. I like the versatile collar but don't know if I'll use the hood. My soft shell is hooded and my down jacket is hooded. But it's exactly what I wanted otherwise and it wasn't easy to find. Got a good price too.
