Best mid layer!
I'm a fan of any midlayer with thumb loops. But I found a tons more to like about the Eclipse Hooded Zip. The athletic fit makes it a great layering piece in the cooler weather. The off set zipper nice because you don't end up with a pile of zipper right in front of the face. It also work great keeping my neck warm when it's zipped all the way up with the hood down. Really enjoying this piece!

Quality issues
I received the Eclipse beginning of December in Dominican Republic, for a use in the alps in 2018 and wore it so far three times mostly at night, despite the higher temperature here (we have even at night over 20 degree Celsius) and the eclipse has been very nice to wear and looks good. After hand washing i.e dipping in the pool I turned it inside out to dry and realized the seems on the bottom and the arms have been coming apart.
It is a very comfy and nice Fleece, and transports humidity well. I like it a lot, but i am very disappointed to see the defect on the seems. This is not what I expected - I have the competitive Mammut Eiswand light Zip Pul, and in comparison it seems to have a much better stitching.

2nd layer
I tested it out skinning up this May as a second layer over a silk first layer. Great comfort. I like the versatile collar but don't know if I'll use the hood. My soft shell is hooded and my down jacket is hooded. But it's exactly what I wanted otherwise and it wasn't easy to find. Got a good price too.
