My son and I have been testing freeze-dried entrees to prepare for a Spring backpack in the Adks. We tried this one out for lunch in Ramapo County Reservation, NJ.
The macaroni and beef reconstituted very nicely but there really wasn't a lot of flavor here. I prefer a chili that has some heat and spice to it, but this one is pretty bland.

This is one of my favorites backpacking dinners in the Mountain House line. Hearty, perfect spices. We pour over 1 C instant rice. Wilderness dining at its lightest and tastiest.
I have used mountain house for years while backpacking and on dayhikes. I have found them to be very tasty, easy to make, (just add the appropriate amount of boiling water and eat), and solid packaging that does not tear easily.
