Great stakes, but a little pricey

by Tom, Verified Owner from MD, United States Updated on March 20, 2023
These stakes are great: light, strong, and hold well. There's enough bite to them that you can use them to help dig a cat hole if you need to. But they can get a little pricey if you're trying to replace the stakes on a tent.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Expensive
Best Used for:
  • camping & backpacking

Great set of light weight stakes.

by Chris, Verified Owner from VA, United States Updated on June 26, 2018
I needed a good set of stakes for use with my hammock tarps and some tie-outs for my camping hammocks. In my world they are light weight stakes, but I think if you are a ultra-light backpacker you might want to go with the titanium, however the extra cost for the titanium didn't make sense for me. They are pretty light weight and do a good job for what I need and I am happy.

Very solid.

by Kevin Fittje, Verified Owner from NE, United States Updated on March 27, 2018
These are probably my favorite stakes. They are light and I have yet to break one. Even in rocky soil and using a rock to tap them in. They hold good in all types of soil. Obviously not in sand or other loose dirt.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Cost is a bit high but worth it
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking

Perfect stakes

by Mike, Verified Owner from OH, United States Updated on September 28, 2017
These tent stakes worked great. We set our tents up one night in a wind tunnel that was literally pushing our tents out of shape, the stakes held strong throughout. They were also easy to drive into any terrain we found

As Good As They Say!

by Laurie S., from CA, United States Updated on June 28, 2017
I've seen the MSR Groundhog stakes recommended by experienced backpackers, campers and others in internet reviews. The consistent high ratings made them an easy choice. I used them the first time this weekend - they are as good, or better, than they say. My friend and I camped next to each other. She had the usual wire stakes, which tend to bend and are harder to get solidly in...
