I like it more than I thought I would

Written on Jan 28, 2018

I've wanted one of these ultralight down 'sweater' type jackets. I read reviews, and know someone who has one of these. Actually like i more than I'd expected. high quality materials and good construction. Only issue is, as mentioned in reviews, the zipper. But, this zipper is the choice, I believe, due to its lightweight aspect. You get used to it being a little fussy to start. I got a killer deal on the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer. It's so lightweight, feels like a big piece of bubble wrap. It keeps me very, very warm. I have one by another company (a well respected, expensive down jacket), but it's not as warm as the Mountain Hardwear and it is heavier. I love this down sweater and I'll be looking forward to lots of wear. It doesn't have an interior pocket, but that's ok. It is very warm.

I love my Vasque Breeze hiking boots

Written on Aug 02, 2017

I tried my new Vasque hiking boots on a long day hike in Yosemite. A little nervous about doing this wondering whether they would be uncomfortable. Had worn them a half day at work to see whether they fit. Sometimes, I do dumb things like wearing hiking boots out-of-the-box for a 7 hour day hike. They were amazing! Lots of elevation gain, I got them wet, all the way to the top, hiked the way back in wet boots - they were great. Don't look to me for a technical breakdown, I just about the performance and comfort. These were very comfortable all day. I sat to let them dry for about an hour, at my halfway point. Even though my socks were wet, I finished the hike in comfort. They sufficiently dried in the hour I tried to dry out (head to toe), for the downhill trail. Home again, cleaned them up and can't wait to get them back on the trail. I got an amazing deal in the Campsaver.com Outlet store. These boots can cost nearly twice as much. So grateful for this website.

I really love this sleeping pad

Written on Jul 23, 2017

Really love my Neo Air sleeping pad. Opted out of the UL pad because of the many comments regarding how noisy it is. This pad is just right. Waking in the morning there was no loss of volume to the pad. I'm a side sleeper who turns a few times. My hip never once hit the ground. The narrower size caused me to wake up more than I wanted to reposition. Wider is better. It does take some patience to blow it up, if you're used to the self-inflating Therma Rest. But, just slow down and enjoy. It was a worthwhile investment for a pad I don't expect to replace. Campsaver is absolutely wonderful about accommodating customers. I love them! I updated a lot of camping gear this year. Took advantage of Campsaver amazing sales. I'm so happy with this sleeping pad and the service with this company. One last thing, everything I ordered came much more quickly than expected. They filled the equipment orders immediately. Standard shipping got my items to me days before their estimate. I intend to give them as much business as I can, and have already recommended them to my friends and family
(I first bought the regular width, changed to the 25" width).

Love it, but haven't used it yet.

I love my Marmot lightweight Jena Down Hoodie. I've wanted one for a long time. I wasn't particular about the brand. I'm not planning to use it for serious backpacking, as yet. The things I will comment on are quality of construction and materials. They're both great. I waited for the super opportunities in the Campsaver Outlet and pounced when I saw this. The raspberry color is pretty accurate, to the image online. I'm giving the 5 stars to include the outstanding customer service at Campsaver - these people know how to interact with the customer. I look forward to a continued happy relationship with Campsaver. One last thing, I've been selecting the standard shipping and have been delivered, yet again, well packed and in three days! I know it says 5 + but Campsaver is super fast filling orders and getting them off to us eager outdoors people. Thank you for a job well done.

I Love It!

An email advertising Campsaver.com came with this stove as one of the items in the ad. It looked great. I watched some Youtube video reviews, read up on it, I was sold. It was the item inspiring me to make my first purchase from the website. It arrived in time for Memorial Day weekend. It's easy to use, cooks evenly, for my liking - perfection! I live in an apartment with no space to store a BBQ. That it takes up the space of a laptop is fantastic for me. I was only concerned there isn't a way to raise and lower the grill. It doesn't matter because it's at the perfect height. Takes less briquets that any other unit I've owned. I grilled two steak filets and enough vegetables for two, on the 12" stove. Took it camping this weekend - takes up so little space packing. Easy clean up due to stainless steel. In other source reviews, there was some whining about scratches from the manufacturer packing. Called Campsaver, they said, don't worry, if I didn't like it they would take it back. There were a few scratches, it's not an issue since this was immediately cooked on! I love it. Great product, great service from Campsaver.

As Good As They Say!

I've seen the MSR Groundhog stakes recommended by experienced backpackers, campers and others in internet reviews. The consistent high ratings made them an easy choice. I used them the first time this weekend - they are as good, or better, than they say. My friend and I camped next to each other. She had the usual wire stakes, which tend to bend and are harder to get solidly in the ground (I had these, too, until my Groundhogs came from Campsaver). Groundhogs have a three "blade" shaft, and a nice point to pierce the ground, and cut into any soil. This would be an exception when in an area where bedrock is near the surface. I give them high marks for easy clean up. You can get them sufficiently clean by running your finger in the blade grooves, and wipe with any cloth. The red anodize just looks cool, as well as makes the surface easier to clean. These stakes hold your shelter very securely. I plan to buy another set for my portable privacy shelter used for dry camping.
