The SiltStopper is a mandatory feature for saving your filter cartridge and preventing endless back flushes. If you are anywhere that has even mildly turbid water this will be indispensable. Purchased this to extend the life of my pump system, and I am a happy customer! I had about half the problems out of my filter as any other trip. Its simple to clean but does take some work to do. As always MSR does not dissapoint!
Questions & Answers for MSR SweetWater SiltStopper
Concerning the Siltstopper, the clear end is where the filter is connected. The red end is where the water comes out (where the bottle is). I guess you could reverse that, but it's designed for the clear end to be up and the red end to be down.
