Nice replacement for old-style miltary canteen. Nalgene makes it easy to see inside it for cleaning and extremely durable. Standard stainless steel canteen cup and canteen cup stove fit around it, and fits nicely into military style canteen pouch. Combined with these and a penny alcohol stove you've got an excellent kit for cocoa, tea, soups, stews and dehydrated meals for one.

I purchased 2 bottles[...] I haven't tried the canteens on any hiking trips yet, but I did fill them with water and made sure they didn't leak. I also couldn't smell any funky plastic odor which is a plus. I love the design and also the way I can see the water level with it's see through design.
