These jackets are so lightweight it does not seem they would provide warmth, but they really are great for backpacking and do keep you warm -with a fleece layer underneath - in the 40's and mid 30's. Packable and lighweight. I can't use down so I was looking for a down alternative. This jacket worked very well backpacking.

I just bought the xs size I want to wear it perfectly.
It completely prevents the wind. I am very satisfied.
Patagonia is always satisfied.
It is fantastic to use instead of padding.
I am going to wear a warm inner coat in the middle of winter.

I was looking for a replacement and a synthetic as my other one is down and not the best for drizzly days on the boat. Another Patagonia and this one is quality I've come to appreciate. The coat fits great and was exactly what I was looking for in a hoody! The XL is true to size and feels fairly windproof with some lighter layers underneath.
