Product Info for Patagonia R1 Pullover - Mens

Sunrise to sundown, from epic approaches to alpine traverses, Patagonia's versatile R1 Pullover stretches, breathes, moves moisture and insulates. And it is the best it has ever been: Patagonia collaborated with Polartec to fine-tune the high/low interior grid polyester fabric (Polartec Power Dry) into an exclusive that's more breathable and compressible and has an improved feel and increased durability, while still maintaining its warmth. Sized to accommodate light underlayers, it works as a stand-alone top or as a light midlayer. With a smooth, microfiber face for easy layering, offset shoulder seams for pack-wearing comfort and a zippered chest pocket.image

Features of Patagonia R1 Pullover:

  • Versatile R1 fleece, with its high/low grid pattern, provides excellent stretch, warmth, fast wicking and great breathability in a variety of temperatures
  • A lighter weight, micro-grid fabric on inner collar, underarm gusset and Variable Conditions Cuff improves breathability and dry times where you need it most
  • Refined technical fit with offset seams for comfort under outerwear and packs
  • Center-front Slim Zip with soft, kissing-welt zipper garage and chin flap for next-to-skin comfort
  • Variable Conditions Cuff has discreet, on-seam thumb loops for added coverage; a spiral-stitch construction allows sleeves to push up easily without constricting forearms

Th R1 is a solidly warm and versatile top. I recommended it for a cold weather base or for just hanging. I own an old version in a XL that runs a more athletic (tight) fit. When replacing that one which is starting to get holes, I had to return an XL and get a large. The current large is at least as big if not bigger than the older XL. Be aware.

I love R1 pullovers. I now own 4 of them. I like the waffled fleece interior and sleek exterior. I wear these for running at temps below 40 degrees F and for more leisurely activities below 60 degrees. Since it is fleece, wind can be an issue. It pairs well under Houdini or Nano Puff. A Capilene 1 and a Houdini, along with the R1, keep me comfortable running in windy 20 degree ...

Warm for the weight. Been treking almost a month now in Peru and this is the only sweater I brought. Haven't washed it yet and there's still no smell.

The R1 is the best in the business. These are a steal for a layering essential that will last literally a life time.

First R1 lasted nearly 10 years. Thankfully, the new one hasn't been changed much. Great shirt, warm and comfortable. The only negative about this shirt is that it tends to stink more than many of the newer underlayers.

I love all the R1 products and find specific use for all of them. R1 Pullover is great when layering while wearing a hat or hooded shell when there is precipitation as well as a great outerwear piece for high output activities on cool days. Wicks moisture very well and deep front zipper provides good off loading of body heat when exercising vigorously. I wish all the R1 product...
