Will this work on the lid of a BD mission 45 pack? Will it fit size wise amd do those clips actually clip into the loops which would be on the lid?

Unfortunately we do not have an answer here. The mission packs we are familiar with do not have lashing points on the outside of the top pocket. These are hooks, which are pretty small and meant to go on a dynema or smaller daisy chain(on Mammut packs). Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Will this fit a ski helmet/pack or is it made for a climbing helmet only?

It could be used for any helmet. The pack you are using it for just needs to have points to secure the carrier(just points, not dedicated specifically for this). Let us know if you have any additional questions.
