The Alp Trainer Mid GTX falls under Salewa's Hike Approach category which combines the comfort and support of hiking boots with the technical features of approach footwear. It is more lightweight and flexible than the Mountain Trainer which falls under the Alpine approach category. The Mountain Trainer is stiffer and has a PU shock absorber in the midsole which improves comfort over long distances.
