These are my first pair a approach shoes and I could not be happier with my purchase. They have great support for hiking and were awesome scrambling on the rocks. I would definitely buy another pair of these shoes.

I work as a professions mountain guide, and was looking for a synthetic approach shoe that was comfortable, fast drying, and burly enough for desert guiding on both rock routes and technical slot canyons. Most shoes don't fair well in the tight, abrasive, and often wet and muddy canyon environment. After a small amount of custom abrasion resistance (Five Ten Stealth Paint) these shies have performed very well in the rugged rock climbing and canyon areas of Utah. They drain and dry quickly, stuck to wet and dry rock very well, and the tread sheds sticky mud efficiently. So far so good! I did have to return my original pair since these shoes run rather long for their size, but the customer service was very responsive. These shoes also run narrow in the forefoot. So if you have a wide foot, or aren't used to a technical approach shoe fit then look elsewhere.
