Mantis chair: Great for bike travel

by Danny, Written on August 5, 2014
I'd wanted one of the Alite chairs for a while. When CampSaver had a sale, I ened up getting their best model--the Mantis--at quite a discount.

I tried it out at home to make sure it would hold my fat butt up OK. My 6', 205 lb. frame felt comfortable and the chair felt sturdy.

I brought it along on a weekend motorcycle trip recently and tried it out in real-world circumstances. It packed up sm

I am 6 foot 3 and 200lbs so I am always a little weary when it comes to compact items supporting me both comfortable and with out breaking. This chair accomplishes both with out issue and is the coolest looking chair at the camp site to boot. If I don't have a camping/hiking trip planned I like to keep mine in my glove box for those random times when you can use a seat.

A great way to rest after a hike

by Made for Mounta, from OK, United States Written on August 5, 2014
The ONLY downside is the little stubs that the legs attach into keep the poles from laying completely flat together. It still rolls together pretty small, just not as small as if all the poles could bunch right up against each other. (I hope that makes sense.)

Great Construction

by StoneMan, from ON, Canada Written on August 5, 2014
Really love the quality. The weight is always a tricky point but for the construction and quality it is reasonable. Only gave it a 4 because it would have been nice it was .5 lbs lighter. Should be doable with todays tech.

Still this is an excellent chair, easy to setup and take down, packs small and very comfortable!

very happy with these chairs they are very versitile because of being small and lightweight they are the perfect chairs for any where. They are small enough that they fit in our day bags which makes lunch on a hiking that much better.

Don't be put off by the price!

Looked around for a lightweight quality fold up chair, masses of Director chairs of dubious quality. Came across the Alite chairs and ordered two. Brought them on holidays and very impressed. They are built to last and very well engineered. People on the beach were intrigued and wanted to know where they could get one. Just bought 4 more for holiday home.

Alite Designs knows how to make a chair! I have emailed them about the lack of color selections as I noted it as a con and they said in the spring collection they will be revealing next year there will be more colors available. currently it only comes in orange, black and beach stripe. I can't believe how easy it is set up and pack up again. I went to a volleyball tournament and I was watching l
