joe's Review of ALPS Mountaineering Lynx Clay/Rust Tent
I purchased this tent because my Black Diamond tent apparently has a broken pole and I needed something quick for a 4 night stay at 11,ooo ft. Got the package VERY quickly, strapped it to my backpack and headed out. When I got to my remote camp site I began setting up my tent. I was surprised at how easily it went up. Two poles & some clips and I was done in under 5 minutes. Anyone who has experience with setting up tents shouldn't have any problems with this. I thought it was roomy enough, I'm 5'10" and I had plenty of room. If you're over 6'2" I would consider something else. The vestibule works well enough, I stored my 4600cc backpack in it and never had a problem with it getting wet or anything. The fly is really nice and strong, when properly secured to the tent and ground, no rain and little wind is getting in. The second night the wind picked up really bad for a couple hours. While all the other tents were blowing around, my tent was rock solid, really, it didn't even sway in the strong gusts! The little windows are situated perfectly for peeking out at the weather while laying down. Zippers are solid, extra little storage net you can hang inside for keys, gun etc...I bought the ground "tarp" for this specific tent, can't really say much about it as it's just a tarp but it worked well. Tent broke down quick and all pieces fit in the bag! whoa! Oh, and I don't know why people are complaining about the steaks, I read some reviews and a couple people said to buy your own, which I did. Although they came in handy for another situation, there's no need to buy better steaks, they work fine. Best tent for the money I've ever bought!
